About the Tour:
The Nuuk–Kapisillit Tour is an extreme mountain adventure covering approximately 110 km over 3 days, with significant elevation gain.
It is very important that you eat a solid breakfast before starting each day and that you do not carry too much gear during the daily hikes.
There will be an information meeting:
(Meeting location to be announced soon.)
You are always welcome to call or text +299 55 81 28 or email info@gax.gl with any questions.
General Information:
This is a physically demanding mountain tour, and it is expected that participants are in good physical shape, have strong endurance, and are mentally prepared for a challenging experience. The pace will be brisk to ensure sufficient rest before the next stage.
Below, you will find a list of recommended gear and important advice for a successful and safe tour.
Please note:
The terrain can become slippery after rain. We strongly recommend wearing sturdy footwear suited for mountain trails, and carrying a small first aid kit for blisters, cuts, and minor injuries.
Hikers will begin the route two hours before the official race start.
However, Stage 1 starts from Katuaq (the Cultural Center) at the same time for everyone.

The stages, briefly:
1. The first stage starts at Jerndumpen (at the end of the airport), goes below the institution through the terrain, then up through Kuanninnguit and down around the “descent.” On this route, there is a rockslide area where special instructions apply — there is a rope, and it’s important we stay together if you haven’t done this route before. After that, the route continues down to the bottom of Kobbefjorden.
There will be a camp with tents assigned to participants, where dinner, coffee, tea, and an info meeting about the next day’s journey will be provided.
2. Day two is the most spectacular hike, reaching about 1300 meters in altitude on snowy terrain in parts, with stunning fjord views and plenty of photo opportunities.
In Qooqqut, all participants will be ferried across the river to the camp. Like day one, there will be dinner, coffee, tea, and some relaxation time. Afterward, there will be an info meeting about the final day — the trip from Qooqqut to Kapisillit.
3. Day three is the longest but with fewer elevation meters. We’ll enjoy views of Ameralik fjord on the way to Itinnera and onward to Kapisillit. If tides are favorable, there’s an opportunity for “beach running” between Itinnera and Kapisillit. Arrival in Kapisillit is expected Saturday evening.
At the arrival area in Kapisillit, a music festival will take place with great music to dance to if you still have the energy. You’ll also have the chance for a well-deserved shower, enjoy some nice refreshments, and sleep in one of the local dormitories.
Let me know if you want it a bit more formal or casual!
